A lot of work but I did it! And I am very proud.

Just for you…..my latest article:

Tony D’Assisi’s Complete Philosophy of Fitness

1. There is no process that does not require TIME. Improving your fitness level is no exception.

>The process of becoming fit and healthy must be constantly worked at and thought of as a never-ending adaptation of higher demands on the physical body and psychological aspects of the mind-body connection

>To appreciate your body and its’ natural abilities or innate intelligence, it must be allowed time for all the physiological and psychological changes to take place as you begin to place greater and greater demands on it to transform into something brand new and better

>The body cannot handle a tremendous amount of stress all at once but it will adapt over a period of time and will benefit more from a progressive overload approach rather than a total annihilation or bombardment. Remember, more is not necessarily better.

2. Physical Fitness is 80% mental and 20% physiological

>Focus on each and every exercise-do not just go through the range of motion of your joints

>Be present, conscious and aware of your muscles and joints when performing exercises and do not take the functional work of your muscles for granted

>Learn and practice visual imagery to help yourself focus on what and how your muscles, tendons, and ligaments all work in harmony to move the limbs of your body

3. Your body is what allows you to move, play, work and enjoy countless activities so treat it with the respect it deserves

>Work your muscles, heart and lungs and see how everyday activities become easier everyday

>Do not succumb to a ‘couch-potato’ lifestyle or attitude-instead, practice exploring and finding activities you really enjoy doing

>Allow your body, muscle, nerves, and brain regular recuperation, decompression and rest time

4. Healthy bodies are an avenue to a more fulfilling energetic lifestyle

>Healthy bodies include healthy minds which allow for more focused energy even in leisure time

>When an overall integrated approach to fitness and health is taken, there is less wasted energy and more functional useful energy available

> With the proper healthy nutrition, progressive overloading of exercise, adequate rest and recuperation and a positive optimistic outlook, the body will have limitless energy to work and play

5. Achieving your optimal physical fitness level will allow you to better manage and cope with everyday stressors

>Stressors at your job, home, school or any social event for that matter, can be seen with a different perspective when your body is in optimal shape

>If your body is called upon in an emergency situation you can move mountains if you are fit and in shape

>When the body is at a high level of efficiency, weekend athletes and anyone who only participates in vigorous play once in a while will not have to worry as much about getting injured

6. Correct execution of proper fitness techniques and concepts will yield positive results with respect to overall health

>Resistance-training or weight-training with ‘specificity’ in mind will strengthen your body in a functionally better manner

>Proper cardiovascular training yields stronger cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory systems that translate into healthier blood pressure levels, lower resting heart rates, quicker recuperation heart rates, and lowering of cardiovascular and related diseases

>Proper stretching techniques will help you stay clear of injuries, muscle spasms, lower back issues and helps aid in better posture

7. Stimulating your body and mind with some form of progressive overload will always be beneficial

>Combining weight-training and cardiovascular exercise will help you achieve optimal health and fitness levels

>Having low body fat around the midsection may be beneficial for your brain as a bigger waist can boost insulin which may keep enzymes from breaking down the plaque associated with Alzheimer’s

>Combining body and mind mental imagery has astounding results which include endorphin release which makes you “feel good”

8. If you want to stay clear of injuries you must learn how your body works and moves

>Always hire a certified specialist to teach you how to properly execute fitness exercises

>Stop thinking and treating your body less than you do your car or any other possession you are not an expert in maintaining or fixing-hire a specialist in all areas of your life for proper body health care

>When you are in need of a particular or specific type of injury rehabilitation do not short change yourself or put it off too long as acute injuries can easily morph into chronic illnesses later in life

9. There are two main motivating factors for becoming healthy and fit-we must learn to improve upon both

>Extrinsic-our aesthetics and how our body looks plays a major role in how we are viewed, and treated by society and how we view and treat ourselves too

>Intrinsic-all the wonderful internal and physiological changes we achieve allow for positive mental self worth and confidence

>Combine both extrinsic and intrinsic motivators and you get your complete body image

10. The benefits of exercise are transferred to other aspects of our lives too

>We can achieve a more focused career by reducing our stress through exercise

>Performing muscular and cardiovascular activities transfers into more overall energy due to improved function of all our physiological systems

>Through healthier nutrition choices the body continues to crave a healthy lifestyle and in turn we tend to choose foods that fuel our bodies with the proper nutrient make-up

11. There must be a wholistic, Life Wellness balance with your approach to getting fit and not just building or shaping a sexy body

>Following the Life Wellness Approach to becoming fit includes but is not limited to three main areas of our lives

1. Healthy nutrition

2. Muscular and cardiovascular conditioning

3. Excellent sleep patterns and regular rest and relaxation

12. Structurization or Periodization allows for short-term, medium-term and long-term goals to be achieved and realized

>Having a blueprint plan makes it much easier to stay focused and not get injured or over-trained

>Planning your workouts allows you to steer clear of boredom, plateaus, and give you the best chance to constantly improve

>When you have structure and blueprint plans to follow you have at your disposal a very specific, and unique to you, guide that allows you to achieve progressively greater and higher milestones
